I have a 98 explorer and I have been recently looking into purchasing a new bushings kit as well as some new front and rear shocks to try and get a little better handling and a little smoother ride. Am I going about this the right way? Because iv heard some people say these would help alot. Just trying to get some peoples opinions. And if anyone has any recomendations id love it hear em.

Thanks alott :D

If nothing has been done since new, or if the shocks have over 50k on them, yes- it will make a tremendous difference. If the front end parts are all original, replace the u/l ball joints, sway bar end links and body mount bushings, and toss on some new shocks- I prefer the Monroe Reflex shocks to the Monroe Sensa-Trac (non leveling) it will be nice and tight and ride MUCH better.

Others like Bilstein, Rancho, KYB, and the Sensa-Trac leveling in the rear, but I do not have experience with them...

I had KYB monomax on my last expy before I totaled it....I like them a lot

Its hard to tell anything on this 01 sport ads all body bushings are gone...so it bangs a lot

Im pretty sure the ball joints were replaced right before i bought the truck, and yes the steering is a little sloppy. The truck feels really "loose" when cornering and going over bumps

I think I posted this question in 2 threads cuz I wasnt sure where It should go haha

Sway bar bushings- end links and body mount bushings

There was a recall for sway bar bushings, may want to check with dealer to see if your Ex qualifies. I am not that familiar with all different kinds of shocks, as Joe D said, all the ones he mentioned have had good reviews on this forum.
When my Ex was not lifted I installed some Edelbrock IAS Performer shocks, and it was a Night and Day difference over stock. They were a Huge Improvement.

Oh I didnt know about that recall, I will have to look into that
