yeah, i painted the carpet on my doors and installed a new carpet kit from headlinerkits.com and recarpeted the rear cargo area in black a few weeks ago. i'm also going to do the headliner, but not until the weather warms up later in the year. what do you think? hows it look? i'll get more pics up sometime.

i also added a fire extinguisher mounted to the back of the passengers seat. earlier this year, i read a post where some people were arguing about the proper place to mount a fire extinguisher because if they were in the back the couldn't be reached, and most places in the front an extinguisher could be a flying object threat in an accident. I thnk the place i put it solved those problems so i thought you all might be interested i seeing it

well, now the pictures are out of order... will it not allow me to post more than two without someone else posting? or what?

Looks really good dude...Almost looks like a Saleen inteior (which I think looks totally awesome) I cant wait to see it in person sometime!

whatd you use to dye the carpet on the door? it defintely looks sweet....next step is to go and find a good upholstery shop to recover your seats so the outside is green and inside is black, like the 2 tone seats in lightnings.....i like it a lot though!

thanks guys! eveyones been ragging me about getting my interior up to speed with the rest of my truck, but i don't want to put any real money into it other than the lcd screen and ps2 so i was hoping that the new carpet and stuff would make a big difference in a subtle and cheap way.

now i just have to find the time to finish the rear cargo area and wait for the good weather to do the headliner (possibly with flames and if i do that i'll do some flames on the dash) and i'll be done as far as i'm going.

nick- i just used vinyl dye stuff the same stuff everyone used for all the interior painting. i won't be having the seats done that way unless i decide to actually show my truck rather than drive it (and thats probably not gonna happen- its just too old and beaten on to make it worth while and its so much fun as a daily driver) but it would be the right thing to do otherwise.

argh. for some stupid reason no one around sandusky carries vinyl dye...

lookin' d@mn good drew. a few questions...

1- how much was the carpet kit?

2- was it really a carpet kit, premade to fit the explorer specifically, or what?

3- i would also like to know what you used to dye your door carpet.

4- if you dyed your door carpet, why didnt you just dye all of the carpet instead of buying new stuff? did the dye not work that great?

5- why did i ask so many questions in one post?

EDIT- now i see that you just answered half of them. i gotta learn to type faster.

hey does headlinerkits.com still work? I would like to check out their site but it looks as if its down...

well since you found the link you already probably have the info- anyways, its a real kit which is molded and has the foam backing pre made to fit the explorer. it was 150 dollars, and the quality was very excellent/installation was as easy as possible (considering all the crap that had to be removed)

btw- i will get a lot more pics sometime in the next few weeks. im just really busy traveling around with ski racing right now.

You're an animal. Looks awesome. New carpet would help my 'slurry seal all over the floor' problem.

oh, one more answer, sorry james- as for the possibility of just painting all of the carpet thats not a good option. when you paint the carpet it gets really stiff (which isn't a problem on the door, but would suck on the floor), it would be har as hell to do, it still wouldn't look as good as the carpet kit because the has nicer carpet and painting over stains and crap will never look as good as new, it would take like 50 dollars of paint to do it etc. etc. i just wouldn't try it.

Looks good. Keep up the unique stuff, we all need someone to copy off of. :p j/k
