After lurking on here for a couple months, I finally have a problem I cannot find a solution to myself...I tried the search and did not see this problem addressed (suprisingly).

I have a 2005 Explorer Limited, I removed the factory deck and replaced it with a Kenwood DNX-8120 double-din nav system. I also installed a PAC steering wheel control module to keep everything as operational as possible.
Unfortunately, after installing the new deck, the factory entertainment system for the rear seat no longer works (1 of the harnesses in the dash is for the RSE and it is not plugged into anything). What is the best method of keeping the RSE functional?

I found a couple of bypass harnesses designed for 2006-current Explorers (they also work for other older model Fords), that would keep all the functionality of the stock system/RSE. Is anybody aware if these bypass kits will work for an 05 as well? The plugs/harnesses seem to be a perfect match for the ones in my dash. Unfortunately none of the manufacturers are aware if the kits will work for an 05.

last time i heard of a guy doing this, a few years back, he actually had to leave the OEM HU plugged in to get the DVD to even work. He couldn't find any other way, now it looks like they got smart and made one for us. . .either one looks good.

Hello, have been thinking about the same issue in a 2004 explorer limited. Did you try buying this equipment and if so did it work? :=)

I'm looking to replace my HU in '05 Explorer Limited, CDs will not load, and, I miss Bluetooth. I've been searching, and believe I may have found a complete set of wiring harnesses to retain the RSE completely and correctly operating. Here is the link. Maybe someone else has tried this to see if it does as description claims.

For my 04 Ex limited that FORDAH unit will plug in, but doesn't have the correct pinout, and even after I changed pins around, it wouldn't power my DVD player. Just FYI.
