Hey all!

im a 17 y/o high school senior, named Matt. Im a huge auto enthusiast and my father has given me his old car to drive as my first car. (he drove it for more than 10 years).

A 1992 Explorer XLT 5-speed 189,000 miles with 65,000 on the new trans. and 18,000 on the new clutch.

I dont plan to do too many large mods, but small improvements and mods is what im planning.

Welcome to this forum! It looks pretty good considering the amount of mileage, and the age.

Hey thanks! yeah its in decent shape despite the bad paint and rust problems in the wheel wells and stuff. Engine is strong and the clutch is strong, and the transition shifts well except for 2nd gear's sencros. lol :D

Welcome Matt! Nice first ride!

As always, us old crusty dudes always remind the younger crowd- repair mechanicals and do some preventative maintenance before doing appearance mods... :)

Hello welcome to the club....mighty fine ex you have there...take pride in that thing....it's your first truck...I'm only 19 so there are some young bucks on this forum too....Not that the old dudes aren't great either....

hey Thanks For the warm welcome!

And yes my father stressed that as well, she just got new spark plugs, new wires, oil change, rad flush, clutch re-bleed, new front pads, and a leak in the power steering was fixed. this was all done before i had my license.

Now, where are my back pills? Ha ha!

Sorry sir I didn't mean to be patronizing....but, it was tough being a 17 y/o kid on here not knowing what you all were talking about SAS, MAF, 4406, took me at least two months to learn the jargon...seriously though I have respect for you all...

btw that story is epic...plus sad...reminds me of when a corolla got stuck in my yard...took a tow truck to get it out of its ruts

PS my name is Diego....

thanks for looking out for me but. lol :D
i have learned quite a lot about cars and mechanics in the past year. My friend and i rebuilt his toyota camry from the ground up engine body etc. so i have some of the ling-o down. ;)

Just playin Diego- we're a happy bunch! :D

welcome matt
