91 XLT
My ownership of my 91 was short lived due to a case of explosive transmission syndrome. Actually it was a leaky clutch slave, but upon draining the transmission so many shavings and tooth chunks came out that it was time to cut my losses on that one.

On to a happier note, with my 2nd daughter on the way we decided the family car needed to get a bit bigger, so out with the Corolla S. To replace it I found a good looking '02 Explorer XLT.

This is my 3rd Ford so far, my first was a 78 Econoline van. Fun story behind that one, a friend of mine rolled his mustang and spent the summer transplanting the HO 302 into the van. When he moved back to his hometown he sold it to me cheap and I drove it around for a while. Aside from that I have stuck mostly with aircooled VWs.

Careful with that one - we've witnessed a few problems with the 2002 as its the first year of the Third generation when the entire drivetrain, chassis and suspension was redesigned.

Welcome back! The 5R55W has known issues with solenoid blocks going bad after 60K miles, and the servo bores wearing down.

All seems good so far, we are the 3rd owners, and the original owners have all of the officially stamped dealer maintenance checked off in the owners manual up until about 80k miles when they sold it.
