Hey guys I'm new here... i used to be in the my350z forum but have solf my Z and am now going for an explorer! Here's what I had in mind....

2013 Ford Explorer XLT leather, nav, panamamic sunroof, back up cam, sensors, Found one for $25,995 with 31k miles on it.. Anyone have any input on pricing etc...? Should i pay that price or keep looking?? We want leather and don't mind having all the extra features Thanks for any input! Our price range is $26k ish because we have $7k for a down payment.... 2.12 APR on our loan and that will put our paymens roughly 345 a month...

Thank you for any help on pricing etc... I WISH I COULD GET THE SPORT!!!!!! :(

Welcome to the Forum.:wavey:
I have moved your thread to this the 'Discussion' sub forum where you should get a few more replies. Good luck.

Do your research. You stated you want a sport, so I would find a sport. I'm sure you can find one in your price range. I wish I had done more research before purchasing a new one this year, as now I really want a sport. I might still take mine back and take a spanking on the price of my XLT to get the sport I want. My advise is get what you want, and if you look around online, you should have no problem finding exactly what your looking for.

I'd stay away from a used Sport. Most of them will be beat. The folks that buy them, drive them like maniacs and I doubt the maintenance matched the way the drove them. If they are only a couple years old, the folks were probably already having issues, and you don't want to have a turbo go out on you. Stick with the XLT. Old men like me drive those...LOL

Guys I actually made a deal today! We got a Black 2014 XLT with 34k miles on it. $28,000 The Sport would be nice but what I WANT is a 350z or 370z so I think just the explorer xlt should be good.... since I can get a 350z for $8k now a days. Thanks for the replies and now I need to do some researching and reading up even more about the explorer! I really want to paint the silver grill to black, the silver on a black explorer is an eye soar of a grill.....

Congratulations on your 'new' ride.
The grille is a personal preference. I actually prefer the contrasting colours.

What a generalization lol.

ROFL, this made me laugh. I cannot image any late model explorer taking a spanking, they all seem like they are owned by soccer moms, that never see any off road use. :aerostar:

I guess you haven't checked out some of the 'Modified' sub forum threads.:)

What about all the used XLT's that are out there that are only a few years old? They must have been having issues as well, right?

Oh, and congrats to the OP on the purchase. Sounds like you made the right choice based on your future plans(the 350Z).

Don't mind him - if you go read his posts, he knocks the sports any chance he gets. It's become quite comical.

Hey guys thanks for the replies!!! i have read them all, don't get me wrong i'm not ignoring anyone but something came up as to where I need to make a big decision.... I HAVE NOT TAKEN DELIVERY ON THE XLT YET.... i just got a call regarding a 2014 explorer limited 4x4 which i think i can get for the same price as the XLT..... Better sound (premium) than xlt.... 4x4 which XLT doesn't have.... AND the grill is already painted lol.... the limited also has 29k miles on it vs. the XLT with 34k. I should probably get the limited 4x4 huh???? Please advise or inform if you have any input. Thank you ALL for input and opinions and helping me out as such a new member..... you can count on me coming her quite often. :]

If price is in the same ballpark, I'd go with the Limited.

A limited 4x4 has a sticker of several thousand more than an xlt. Get the VIN of both and compare the stickers yourself.

If you want to private message me the VIN of the Limited I'd be happy to run an OASIS on it. Maybe save you some hassle if it's a car that's been through the ringer and they put an attractive price on to dump it on someone.

Something seems fishy. A limited with 4x4 and fewer miles for less than the XLT doesn't sound right. Take Nasty up on the offer.

I don't see where he said the Limited was less than the XLT. He thinks he could get it for about the same price which would make me think they are asking more for it. Not a bad idea to get it checked out in any case.

Peter

Unfortunately I spoke too soon. I swore I could see that information before but I can't on my end anymore. I'm sure someone with dealer credentials could get it done if there any on the forum?

Woops, my mistake. Anyway, depending on options and condition, I would guess the XLT could be had for less than the Limited. But again, options and condition will play a big role.

Hey thanks Nasty!! I will PM you now with the VIN#!!! You are most helpful...

Also thanks to all!! This forum is awesome, it's active and people are all about helping it seems so this is very cool! Thanks to you all for helping me out and sorry for my slow replies as well. Now that I realize this forum is live and awake i'll do my part to get in here more.

UPDATE******** I purchased the 2014 Limited version so I hope the VIN checks out ok. It checked out fine on Carfax but hopefully Oasis doesn't show something I don't want to see..... I don't even really know what Oasis is or reveals... The car is soooooooo awesome!!!! I purchased it for $28,800...the XLT version I was about to buy which was a 2014 as well for $28,400.... When I got my loan at the bank she ran the KBB on the Limited one and it came up at $33,000-ish so it was definitely sold to me below BB. It has SO MANY BELLS AND WHISTLES!!!

These are the differences in features I got by paying $400 more rather than getting the XLT:

*a/c seats
*heated 2nd row seats
*heated steering wheel
*sony prem. sound with 10" woofer
*4x4
*blacked out grill
*automated folding 3rd row
*power lift gate
*110v plug
*adjustable RGB interior lighting (i don't think xlt had this)
*5k LESS miles (30,000 miles on it now)
*park assist
*cruise assist
*remote start / push button start
****I think there still is more but i can't think of the 'more' lol SOOOOOO STOKED !!!!!

I will post pictures but I want to post them after I detail it..... I guess for now i'll post what it looks like straight off the lot. I want to work the paint good though as I used to detail cars often and have a business.... my porter cable will assist nicely.

BELOW:: I took my new purchase to the South Coast Acura / Subaru dealer to park it next to that Black XLT on the right. (not the same XLT i was referring to above for $28,400...) This XLT was the first one I was going to buy.... It was $25,995. I went test drove it... tried to negotiate but long story short I told the sales lady i'll take it! 7k deposit in bank and a loan already approved by School's First Credit Union. She started telling me I couldn't afford it... etc..etc.. I told her I wanted to buy it and let's start the process. She gave me an application TO-GO..... basically she let the sure sale slip right through her fingers because of WHY???? I still can't tell you why but I am grateful she was lazy or didn't think I was a real customer. I parked my car next to it so I could share the image with the dealer and say thank you for rejecting my offer at their own sticker price..... because I got a MUCH BETTER DEAL and CAR!!!!
