New Explorer Owner with questions

I just bought my first 4X4. It's a 204 Explorer with 149,000 miles. I love it but have ran into a problem with my heater box door. A lever has broken on it that moves it and the dealer says the dash has to come out and replace the heater box assembly. Are they pulling my leg? The lever is about two inches long and slides into the box? Has anyone had a similar problem?

First of all, welcome aboard!!

Are you talking about the blend door actuator? Do you hear a clicking noise when you change the temp from cold to hot?
