i recently bought a 2000 ford explorer xls 4.0 vin X with blown engine. i was told when looking for a motor, look for the same vin letter. well i found , i think a 1995 ford explorer with vin letter X. so i go and buy this engine, and i take it out, it saved me a few dollars. well i put this engine in , and begin hooking up the wiring harness, were i hit a snag. the cam sensors has 3 plug outlets. my 2000 sensor only has 2 wires, and its longer also. i put the 2000 sensor in the block, it likes about 1/4 inche going all the way down. do i have any options besides pulling engine a finding another. can i rewire the 3 pin to fit the 2 pin, or will a 1/4 inch make a different on how the gears ride on the cam. thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

I have to say, your in a bit of a spot here. The 95 OHV has many things different than a 2000 OHV. I'm not really sure with even swapping everything but the block itself would even work. The fuel rails are dif, the electronics are completely dif, the heads are dif, etc...

You actually need a 98+ engine with the PATS, & OBDII electronics for a swap to work. I could be wrong here, and I hope I am, for your situation.

The CPS are made dif for certain years I believe. Keep bumping this thread, and someone with more knowledge than I, might see this, and offer more help.
