New guy here

Hi all.

In a couple weeks I will be getting a 93 Explorer from a family member. I am not at all familiar with the Explorers.

Is there anything I need to check out before I hit the road?

Are there any common problem areas on this rig?

Welcome to the site

As with any vehicle of that age the transmission is the most vulnerable to problems. If you find one with a good tranny, you should be in good shape. We have members here who have over 300,000 on their 4.0 engines.

Welcome to this forum! Check the color, and the smell of the transmission fluid. See if there is any water mixed with oil in the engine.

I would change all fuids and check the brakes/tires/etc.
