Just bought a 2004 Explorer for my Bride (52 years) with 81k miles on it. Seemed like a good clan car, ran mice for a few days. OD light began blinking and OBD II showed a P0775 code. I’ve bought 8 cars over the years from this lot and they will fix it. I’ve read a lot about this code and the fix doesn’t sound simple, They are willing to take this car back and find me another. I’d like to hear from others who have had a repair of this fault and how long it might last, I want her to have a reliable car!

I drive a 2000 Ford Excursion with a 7.3 L diesel that I may well have buried with me!

Welcome to this forum! Thanks for supporting this site with your elite membership. The code usually indicates servo bore wear on the transmission. You have two options. The first one is to rebuild the transmission, and resleeve the servo bores. The second option is to replace the OEM servos with aftermarket servos with O rings while the transmission is still in the vehicle.

Thanks for the welcomes. I am aware of the fixes, my real question is how reliable is the aftermarket servo fix?

So far everybody who used it on this site has been happy except for one person. That person installed the extra O ring on the servo (2 O rings at a time), and jammed the servo. The servo is designed for one O ring at a time, so it wasn't the fault of the original design. Installation error was the issue. I didn't read anything about servo or O ring issues due to faulty workmanship.

If it's a V6, you should replace the timing chain guide tensioners while it's not too late.
