Hey there everybody. I just bought a 2001 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer edition and have just been trying to do some research online about it and found this site.

I'm basically just looking for info and advice. Things to do or not to do, what I can do to make it a great off road vehicle if it even is really capable of that, common mechanical issues and the early warning signs, etc.

I just downgraded, or upgraded depending on how you look at it, from a 1977 Ford F-250 and this is the newest vehicle I have ever owned.

I'll update with issues, costs, fixes, and experiences and if anyone has any help to offer I hope you won't be shy.

Hi and welcome aboard!

You may be pleasantly surprised at just how capable and NIMBLE this vehicle is. I assume you have a 4x4 model... Please advise (2x4, AWD, 4x4)...

Also, please post 2dr vs 4dr and the engine type (4.0l SOHC, 5.0l v8, etc) and transmission type for more specific advice. I (and others) may not be aware of all available options for the EB...

My apologies. It's the AWD V8 4 door with the automatic transmission. I feel spoiled cause I drive truck and my old ford was manual so it's kind of nice lol.
