new HU wont power up

i tried hooking up my new pioneer 5500 today and it would only power up when i touched the yellow wires with the red wires, does anyone have any idea what may be wrong ?

TO POWER UP THE RADIO YOU NEED TO POWER SOURCES, BOTH THE 12V - RED AND A REMOTE, THATS YOUR YELLOW, AND IF YOU HAVE A BLUE, THATS SHOULD BE YOU REMOTE LEAD FOR A AMP, SO WHEN YOU TURN ON THE RADIO THE AMP TURNS ON, AND WHEN YOU TURN THE RADIO OFF, THE AMP TURNS OFF // GOOD LUCK

rodman, to go along with what silver said, if you have the wires hooked up correctly and you are sure of it, check your fuses. you might have blown the remote wire or hot wire fuse and only one be coming on.

either way, if it has hot, remote and ground, it will fire up.

i have 2 power sources now, thanks guys, i didnt think i blew a fuse, just went out and checked and thats what it was, i really appreciate it, thanks again.

no prob. good luck. and i like the choise of head unit. my pioneer head unit is 5 years old and ill never part with it untill death do us part. it has never studdered or skipped a day in its life, and it has no expensive bells and whistles to break eather

i think i am hooked on pioneer, this 5500 rocks, got it on ebay from sell2all.com for $164 plus shipping, its very loud, lol, thanks again
