Recently I have had a problem with a rough idle on a warm start, and once on a warm start it would crank fine but not fire up, to get it to start I had to floor the gas while cranking it over, I have cleaned the MAF, throttle body, and yesterday I replaced the IAC and the fuel filter, I disconnected the battery cable for 20 min while doing this. After complete I started it up and it ran great, took it for a drive to let the computer relearn stopped for a while and it started up fine, No Problems. This morning I went to start it up and no go.... Had to hold my foot to the floor to get it to start. Now once its running no problems no rough idle no sputtering no hesitation no problems

Where do I start???
Thanks :fire:

holy crap I had the same exact problem happen to me before. Try having the injectors thoroughly cleaned... that helped me for a while but it turns out I had a bad injector or two... being that it's a pita to replace them I just put all new ones in. Try cleaning them thoroughly if you can, there is a cleaning machine that connects to the two fuel lines by your engine and runs it's own loop and runs constant concentrated cleaner through your engine. We have one at my auto class, see if a shop by you may have one or if you can get your hands on one. In my opinion, these explorers could have been so much better... ::sigH::

Ouch

When it happened to you was it very very intermitant, and if so is there a way to test the injectors to tell if they are bad. I have just been out for a couple of hours and had no problems.
Thanks for your help

Bump... any help pleeeeease............

To test the injectors: What you'll want to do is tap into your fuel line and get the pressure. Then you'll need a fuel injector tester (1000 pulses per 10 ms, or similar) and then cycle the key on, push the button and watch the fuel pressure. All 6 (or 8 if a v8) should be within 2. Most fuel pressure will start around 40 and will drop anywhere to 31 to 34. Good luck. If you don't have these tools, don't plan on purchasing them if your just tryin to fix your vehicle. If you get everything I've talked about, plus a Digital Multi-Meter, you'll be anywhere from the 600 to 900 bucks just to test your injectors. Also, new injectors are expensive -- they do make reman'd ones with warranties. Good luck!

Thanks

Thanks for the reply but OUCH 600-900 $$$ is killer. I think I am going to start with a fuel pressure test and see if it may be the fpr... Hopefully then I don't need to get into the injectors.
