2020 Explorer XLT
I saw another thread when I searched for this but it seems to have been abandoned.

This is regarding a 2020 Ford Explorer XLT

I have the two factory keys. I wanted to add a third key to keep at the house for emergencies. I bought a key with good reviews off Amazon that said it for for the 2020 Explorer and had good reviews. It had 5 buttons though. The two factory keys only have four buttons. I could not find any info if this actually made any difference.

I went through the programming procedure and it said the key was programmed successfully and It shows up in the admin key count. However, none of the buttons seem to work. The car does start when the key is inside the vehicle. Just no buttons work. When I press a button there is a red light on the fob that will blink several times but nothing happens. On the factory keys, the light on the fob does not blink.

I have tried to determine if the problem is because it was a five button fob or if there is another problem. I am open to any info you all may have.

Thanks,

Bryant

There are no "abandoned" threads here, just ones that waiting to have new posts added to them. Once that is done, the thread goes back to the top of the main page for all to see.
The flashing red light is an indication that the button's feature doesn't work. That is about all I can tell you.

Thank you. Every little bit helps. Maybe some others will have more info. I was not sure about bumping a 12 year old post. In some forums that is a sure way to get put out. I have done some more searching on here but still do not see anything regarding the 4 vs 5 button thing. I went back to the Amazon listing and confirmed it did say 2020 Explorer. Ironically now there are several listings that show a 4 button one like my original one. I wish Amazon had shown me those when I looked the first time.
