New larger wheels and tires on 1st gen 3" bodylifted X. Can I run 33's?

I have a 3" body lift. Can i get 33's tucked in with new 15x8 black rockcrawlers? I can install war shackles and front coil spcacers if needed. Here's the package i'm interested in over at 4wheeparts.com. Any and all opinions are welcome and much appreciated. Please comment.

I'd get 4" backspacing, and you'll probably need the suspension lift if you don't want to trim a bunch. Good luck!

If 31" tires fit stock then why wouldnt 33's fit with a 3" body lift. 31 + 3 =34. So it seems like a 34" tire would fit or what is it that i'm not taking into account?

width of the wheelwells front to back is your limitation. Most trimming needs to be done at the bottom corners of the wheelwells.

And remember, you need to take into account that the front wheels turn!

Ahh yes the infamous turning front wheels. I guess when I crank the wheel with a larger tire it's gonna hit the sway bar and inside wheel well first. So by trimming I can get 33's in there. Ok great. Is it trimming plastic or metal or both?

I ran the same set up on my 93 sport. 3inch Body lift coilspacers and shackles. 33x12.50x115's on the rockcrawlers with 3.75 backspacing. I had to trim the crap out of the fenders. I had to take the plastic rockers off, cut the wheel liner and about 3 inches of the fender away to get them not to rub.

and that was with a total of 4.5" of lift: both small lifts.

Definately.

But, if you want to go 33, go 33. Just know you may have to trim a bunch. Most of the time trimming can be accomplished without being very noticable; just takes the right tools, some time and patience, and some cojones to make the first cut

Here is my x in it's adolesence stage (3" body lift and 32x11.5's on stock rims) Don't forget about that great 2" skyjacker lift. I think it's a hella deal, same with spacers and shackles. In the back you will be fine. In the front you might be alright with 10.5s. I ran my 32s with a lil rub but it wasn't worth not getting them. GO BIG OR GO HOME!!!!!!

I had to trim the crap out of the fenders. I had to take the plastic rockers off, cut the wheel liner and about 3 inches of the fender away to get them not to rub.


Was it rubbing during normal driving or off road only?

I just got 33x12.50s today. They should fit if you trim a lot at the bottom. Mine is very close.

I used a dremel. Requires a steady hand so you don't break the blades.

How many inches in and over from the fender towards the door did you start the cut. And how many inches up did you go till you stopped cutting, completeing the cut.

Hate to say it, but that's gonna rub when you flex the suspension out. But even with all the trimming and getting the new fenders that I had to do, I'm so happy I went with 33x12 instead of 32s or 33x10.
