I ran a similar setup on my '96 (see sig). The drone was so bad, even after installing a Dynomax Bullet as a resonator, I put the Flowmaster back in. I ran Magnaflows on my '97 Cobra, and didn't like 'em on that, either.

Check out the review section, and you'll see I'm not the only one who thinks Magnaflows have a drone issue.

Been there, done that with droning exhausts. It's fun for about 5 minutes. :thumbdwn:

If I could get an exhaust for my 06 --- No noise -- HP increase -- I'd be the first in line. I like a sleeper -- When the light changes and all they see is tail lights . Don't need drone and all that rumble. Wonder what the diameter of the mag Exhaust is for the 06 4.6L?? 3 " ??? Thanx !!! fjb20

AND -- When to magnaflows site -- Doesn't give you the specs on their exhaust
2" 2 1/2" 3" Nothin

It's not bigger than 2.5" . The install guide notes using "the supplied 2.5" band clams".

I'm planning on ordering one this week for my wife's 06 EB. If it drones I'll have my manufacturer design one(I run a business building performance exhausts for Subarus). I'll keep the forum posted.

Thanx Rock -- Like I said Luv to have more horses but I don't wannna hear all that racket -- Some like noise -- Some don't

Well -- If the magnaflow specs say 2 1/2" diam. Then that's no bigger than what on
the explorer now -- So the advertised HP increase whatever that is comes from a non-restrictive muffler which means noise and the drone thing. Kinds leaves me out. Love to have a few more horses but I really don't want all the noise and I've heard a lot of them

For increased flow without the noise, I have heard that the Flowmaster 70 is a good choice. Now, I have no personal experience with this muffler myself, but have heard from members here that it is very quiet with no drone.

Thanx !!! Sno I'm off to their website Luv the KKM intake -- Now of I could find an exhaust that suits ME -- Might get to a little over 300 HP -- Pretty sweet for a 6000 pound soccer mom car

With the KKM you should already be over 300 (301.4 I think). If you want your Ex putting out everything its got get an XCal2. Im assuming Ill be somewhere near 310-315 when ive got both on my car.

Pretty sweet indeed... muahaha.

Afterthought: Wait are those numbers even right? Stock, I had 292hp, plus the 9.4 for the KKM and the 10ish for the XCal2. Are these numbers reliable and has anyone visited a Dyno with a similar setup? Pretty random question for an exhaust thread sorry...

Been told that the advertised HP gains may be a little FAT I figure the KKM gave me 6HP I should have had the X dynoed before I started It's only going to give you what's at the rear wheels but then as you progress you can see what you've gained

Sno -- went to Dynaflows website just to see what king of HP gains -- Says Not available Also emailed Flowmaster about the no drone 70 series

I was a bit lazy and didn't order it till yesterday, should be here about this time next week. I'll post a sound bite once it's installed. This is the wife's rig but we'd both like to hear a little more v8 rumble out of it. For me its a sounds thing over any power gain. So long as there is no drone I'm pretty sure we'll be happy. Will post back when I've got something real to comment on.

Same boat here. Girlfriend sold her (formerly my) 2001 Mustang GT very for the Explorer. She'd love to get the more muscular rumble from it.

Rich -- Keep us posted Luv more horses But you know me and noise

Was gonna go into the Amish thing with noise but "God Bless Them " This is a bad time for them

Make sure ya let us know the advertised HP Gains

The Explorer (not Sport-Trac) video on the Magnaflow site is my wife's Explorer. They actually put it on for free because they didn't know if the '05 system would work on the '06's....turns out it did.

I didn't notice any SOTP gains, and they never posted a dyno, so I don't know about the gains. The tip has discolored a bit from heat, leading me to believe the 3V engine flows enough air to benefit from a true dual exhaust setup.

As far as sound, I really like it-as does my wife. You can hear it when cruising, so there is some drone, but we got used to it in a couple of days.

I drive a 2004 Mustang Cobra so drone is not something I am bothered by anyways. My car is MUCH louder than hers.

on the ´06 V8, just swapping the first muffler with a 3"-tube is enough to have a little more V8-sound w/o rumble or droning. It´s just a little bit fat between idle and 2000 rpm getting quieter with raising rev.

To me, this setup is what i love and what fits to this car ( my opinion ).

Doesn´t take effect on mileage or horsepowers, so i guess this first muffler is just been used because of the Florida-state-laws ;) ( just kidding )

Search for a earlier post of mine relating to the magnaflow SS CB exhaust. It is a very tammed set-up. you will notice and deeper mello sound and SOTP gains, espeacially if you have a CAI and some sort of a tune that allows you to run higher octain gas. There is no annoying drown as everyone assumes. I have pictures in my post that a member posted for me so take a look, very straight forward install with nice fitment. Now from experience, Flow Masters have much more of a drone. As you stated, try it for yourself and make your own opinion. I see alot of opinions that are just that (opinions;)
