Hello everyone,
I recently bought a 97 Mercury Mountaineer, 5.0 AWD that was trashed interior and maintenance wise for 500 bucks. I saw what a nice vehicle it could be under the destruction so I jumped on it. Within days I found a 98 Explorer Eddie Bauer Limited that had the interior and many other things I needed so I paid 300 for it and got to work. I stripped the mountaineer's interior down to nothing and scrubbed it clean. At this point I've installed the Explorer interior and have had to start driving it.
I'm going to be needing tech help from you experienced guys on some of the problems I still need to take care of. The mountaineer came with no manuals so right now finding the windshield wiper fuse and window fuse is the biggest thing to tackle next. Other problems will be converting the awesome explorer radio and cd changer into the mountaineer, changing out the steering wheel and getting the front drive shaft installed ( former owner pulled it due to vibration) - I'm sure this will be an ongoing project like my mustang.
