Hi all,

New member here with a 1991 XL. Bought it as an off-road toy for $450 (Canuck bucks!), and have already put a lot of the great info from here to good use.

Next step is to sort out my coolant leak (which I traced to the lower intake manifold thanks to you folks - coolant coming off the bell housing).

A very dirty picture - she's been cleaned up a lot since this one, and I've hit the few rust spots with rust check primer in anticipation of some proper black Tremclad this summer. Also, I've got the hood latching properly now (again, thanks to the great advice here).

Done:

Full tune up with new plugs, wires (sorted out the misfire), and filters
Hood latch working again

Next:

Lower intake manifold gasket
Get the driver's door lock cylinder working again
Find a way to remount the loose inside door handles
Fix front window crank (slips currently)
Black tremclad for lower rear quarters, fender lips, A pillars and rocker panels

welcome

Welcome to this forum! It still looks good considering its age. Your location gets a lot of snow. They salt the roads, and it causes rust. How many miles does it have, and what's the production date? You might have one of the original models.

It actually looks a lot better after a wash (all the grey crud is caked on dirt) - too lazy to take pictures though and now she's buried in snow.

272k km, so about 170k miles. Engine is very strong, as is the drivetrain.

I don't know the production date, but I'll take a peek at the door sticker tonight or tomorrow.

Also, I forgot to add to the list that my mod plans thus far include just a set of 31x10.5x15 tires on the stock wheels.
