- 1998 Explorer XLT
First off I would like to say hello to all of the members on this forum.
Im mostly on other forums like TGC and Club3g because I am an import guy that owns a fully built Galant. So bc I have that I decided to get myself a daily driven car.
I have a 1998 Ford Explorer XLT 2WD with a 4.0L SOHC motor and love this SUV alot. So much room and God...love the engine sound and power it puts out. Just really hate the gas it eats up.lol
I do have a lil problem and hope its ok I post the problem here and I need someone’s help to determine this problem bc I am not going to the Ford dealership to pay them the 150 buck an hour.lol When I got this car, everything was fine and I have flushed the engine and tranny and everything it in working condition. I mostly use Prem Gas and for oil I use Castrol Edge...the vehicle has 181,000 miles and I like to use synthetic during when its cold out. After couple of months there is this annoying rattling sound coming from under the engine on the passenger side. First thought it was pulley tentioner and changed it and belt...all brand new but nop, than rear timing chain tentioner and brand new but nop not that...checked oil level and tranny level...nop not that either. CHecked cat heat shield and no not that either but will check one more time. When starting the car at idle...engine is smoooth sounding like a sleeping baby but when driving off at low RPM's...damn i hear that annoying rattling sound and than on the high way when accelerating i hear it but than goes away after 60mph. Does anybody have any clue what the hell this is?
Well its nice to join the team
