Hello everyone!
It is my pleasure to join this group. I have a quick question that I hope has an answer. I have a 1991 Ford Explorer. It has a V-6 engine. It is in pretty good condition over all. It could use a good paint job.

Recently I won a 22 foot Hi-Lo Camping Trailer on the game show "The Price is Right". My Explorer is not rigged electrically to service the brakes lights and the electronic brakes, and I imagine that would not be a problem getting this all hooked up, but my question is this.

What is the Towing Load / Weight Capacity of the 1991 Ford Explorer?
The total weight of the Hi-Lo Trailer is 3,783 pounds. Can this 1991 ford explorer pull a trailer weight of this amount over mountain passes and up hills( and have enough braking power going down hill) ?

I know I will need to have a heavy duty "hitch" installed for the truck, no problem there. I just want to know if this truck can pull this trailer.

I appreciate your input.

If you look at the tag in your door it will give you some information in code form. Do A search on the forum for "door jam codes" or "max tow". You should be able to cross reference the codes and find out what you need to know. I'm sure that if your axle code is D4 you have the best axle and can tow the most.
