- 2001 Ford Sport Trac
I own a 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac 4 wheel drive. Purchased new 15 years ago, 215,000 miles on it now. I have been using synthetic oil since day one. All original drive train except a rebuilt tranny. Drive it until it breaks. Tranny lost reverse at 183,000 miles even with the dash light blinking for about 80,000 miles. Got tired of looking for a hill to park on or push it backwards. Live in paved country near Super Bowl 50 and off roading in the Sierras, Pismo Beach or the deserts of Southern CA. Would rather rebuild the motor than buy anything else. Designed a unique woodie cap for it. Other than that everything on it is stock. Past four wheelers, Power Wagon, Bronco, F250, Land Cruiser, CJ-5. Would like to have a solid front axle on my Sport Trac.
