New member looking for some help with A/C vent/Defrost

I have a 2007 Ford sport Trac adrenaline. Currently when I select defrost the heat is flowing from the AC vents. I've had issues with this back during the summer when I selected AC and it came out the defrost vents. It seems as if it changes from day. I never know where it's going to come from. Also when AC selected and after engine start you hear a loud thump from the right firewall area...not a click but a thump that you can feel in you feet while sitting in the passenger seat.

Any help with this issue will be greatly appreciated!!
