new member really needs advice

Hello, all. I am brand new to this site. I have a 1994 Explorer XLT. I love this vehicle and I want to do everything I can to keep it in great shape.
One problem, my only problem: She dies on me without warning. It has happened about 3 times, once to me and twice to my husband. The first time, it was idling in park and died, took about a minute or so to start. Second time, I was driving down the road at about 40 mph. Just died, no warning. Pulled over, started right up. Died on my husband driving down the road. Started once, died again. Took about 5 minutes or so to get it started.
Any ideas? She runs great, no problems at all, she just dies every once in a while.

When was the last time a tune up was done?

It could be a clogged fuel filter, or failing ignition system.

Make sure your battery connections are good and tight.

Cleaning the IAC (idle air control) and MAF (mass air flow) sensors wouldn't hurt either.

I hate to sound like an idiot, but how do you clean the IAC and MAF? I plan on relaying all information to my husband, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

These threads suggest different cleaners to clean them with. Probably the easiest is non-residue electric contact cleaner. You can get it at auto parts stores or radio shack, probably Walmart too.
