Hello everyone ! I own 2 Explorers so I will hang around for awhile.

Autotrac bypass

Hi folks, I'm another new guy with a request. I have recently purchased a 98 explorer and want to bypass 4auto to drive in 2hi with a remote switch. I've seen some info and photos doing similiar and different things on older explorers in the dash but not with 98-01 trucks. I Know it has something to do with a brown wire? but there are two browns, one with a white stripe, one brown only. My goal is to flick a switch while it is in 4auto that will de-energize the clutch coil for complete independant control of 2wd. Then I can just flick the switch again to have 4auto etc. Theres something I like about going as far as I can in 2wd and then shift into 4wd when I feel like it Of course I know I have to be sopped to do this with the new switch.

Thanks in advance, Woodee
