hi guys,

had my '98 for about 6 weeks now and love it, done 3,500 miles and had a lot more fun than in the cherokee i just got rid of!

one thing thats bugging me though is that the audio system is a bit weak, has anyone tried replacing the door speakers? just wondering if i have to remove the whole door trims to get to the speakers (when i did this in the cherokee i screwed up the central locking so if i have to do it, i'll be a bit more careful!)

thanks in advance for any advice

jon

door panels must be removed just make sure you find out where all the fasteners are and remove them before you just try and rip the door off.. and watch for screws... there is a few of them all in all its worth the time spent to change the speakers... just take your time and remember you got us... someone can prolly tell you exaclty how to get them off... if you had a 2 door the back ones you just take off a plastic grill and your there.

Welcome to another UK owner.

I changed mine to 17cm 3 ways and used the Mondeo adaptors which fit fine. I could not get 6*9's to fit because of the depth.

The door panels are clipped along the sides and bottom and then lift off after you have removed the screws and the plate around the opening lever. You can unplug the switch panels.

oh yea yall are UK ... um i know 6x9s wont ever fit in one over here without moidification... but stock are 6x8s... i dont see why they would be that much different over there just in metric whatever 6x8 is...alot of ppl use 5 1/4 components if that what ever your 17 cm is ?
