New Owner Question - Squats

just a silly question but you dont have lots of tools or a big sub box in the back of your ex do you ? If so new springs probably wont help unless they are rated for more weight.... i got a set of new springs for 120 bucks shipped from jc whitney.... check them out.... if your going to do add a leafs you have to take the whole spring out or apart anyways

Advance auto parts sells a helper spring kit for about $25. It's universal bolt on and is always in stock here in the city. When the leafs went on my old work minivan (so much weight reversed the curve) I got a set of used leaves from the yard and took them to a spring shop. For 80 bucks they added a leaf, sandblasted and painted them for me. I added 1000# carrying capacity and 3" lift.

they run about 30 bucks at summitracing.com but if you dont have any automotive experience they can be daunting to install. There are many writeups on here that will walk you through it if you want...i did mine and its not THAT hard, it just takes time and patience. You have to drop your rear axle. If you dont want to do it yourself, the install is what will cost you. It will also make your ride much stiffer. Its all up to you.

I'm doing my shakles this weekend (arg..it's hot :fire: ) so I'll post some before and after pics.

I just bought a 2000 Eddie B. with only 50,000 miles. It was extremely clean inside and out. I replaced the tires w/ Goodyear Wranger RT/S (maybe not the best choice but they look great). I'm pretty happy with this truck exept one thing. It sags it the back, or what I like to call "Squats". How can I get it to stand evenly horizontal????? Remember, I'm a new owner so forgive me if this is a dumb question. I'm just looking for some help..... :)

I have a 2001 Sport that I bought new. It now has 58,000 Miles and the rear end also sags. I installed new Monroe shocks and new OEM rear springs and only raised it 1". I ordered Warrior shackles that I will install next week. This should fix it!!!

Yes, what you are doing will remedy the ride height but is a bandaid. You are NOT resolving the real problem, which is the sagging springs. The are going to remain sagging and will continue to sag more with time until you eventually have to replace them with the spring pack from a 4 door X.
