Hello everyone
I am from England and have just bought a 1996 Explorer.
It is a rare vehicle in GB as it is a manual and was imported from Australia in 1999.
It has been looked after and has distintive graphics on the sides picturing a kangaroo.
I am absolutley in love with this car after just two weeks of ownership but I am going to have problems with spares because it is not listed in any parts list in GB.
I am hopeful that someone from America can be of help to me with some small items that are unobtainable here.
In two weeks my wife and I are going on an extended tour of France foe six weeks so in that time I will surely know a bit more about our new car!

Welcome to the site.

There are a number of American car part importers that can get most parts. A manual is very rare over here, in fact you have the only one that I know of. The standard spec for the UK version is 4.0 SOHC with 5 speed auto 3.73LSD. Posy some pics then we can all see it. You can check mine out in my sig. We have a UK section if you look.

Hello Howard and thanks for the welcome.
I thought my new purchase was unusual for GB after reading various posts.
When I find out how to do it I will put some pictures on the site for you all to see, the graphics on the doors are typical Australian and I love them!
The car is not as highly spec'd as the standard import, cloth seats, 5 speed manual, air con, electric windows and seats, speedo is in km per hour, 4 litre OHV engine and a slightly different grille to yours.
It was built in 1996 according to the label on the door and was originally sold in Australia. It was purchased by someone in the forces and sent on to Germany, then imported into GB and registered in 1999 on a T plate.
