new SOHC engine by dealer for free!!

took my '97 SOHC in last week for the throttle body and chain guides recalls, total of 4 recalls to be done. one of them i was going to pay for because it expired about a year ago. no big deal, little under $400 parts and labor. stopped by yesterday to check on it and the mech said it was cheaper and easier for them to put a new engine in instead of all the parts and labor they were going to put in by doing just the recalls.

You sure its not a remanufactured engine? when mine went out under warrenty with my blazer thats what i got. pretty impressive tho.

yeah it's a reman, but it's still better than the 67,000 miler i had. especially since it's all free.

Ford's total bill = $3100+
my bill = $300
had to buy new plugs, wires, oil, etc. 3 yr and 36,000 mile warranty and no rattling noise!
