NEW Speedometer with lower Miles?????

Hey guys,

Just purchased a new speedometer with 47,000 miles, whilst my old one was showing around 77,000.

Will the new speedometer with lower miles automatically reconfigure itself back to my current miles or will my car show 47,000 miles?

A friend of mine believes that the miles should automatically reconfigure itself back to the original mileage stored in my ECU of 77,000.

Im not wanting to fudge the miles nor am i planning on selling the car.

it will not update to mileage. it will stay at what ever miles its at.
