Hi,
I was wondering if its practical to add a good system (new speakers, amps, sub) and still retain the factory head unit. I really like the way it works. Also, I know if you replace the factory amp and stuff you loose the dsp system, which i never use. I am sure it can be done, but will i get charged out the arse for installation? Thanks

Yeah you can keep your head unit and still put an amp, sub, and new speakers in there.

First:
To put an amp in your system with your factory head unit you will need to get either an amp with speaker level inputs, or you can get an adapted that lets you splice your speakers into the wires on the converter and then it goes out to rca cables which allows you to pplug it into the amp. I have an alpine amp for sale, it is a 5 channel (4x75 for your door speakers, then a seperate channel of 180 wattsx1 for a sub) if you want it or more info, feel free to e-mail me (e-mail address is in my signature). I would rather just get an amp with speaker level inputs instead of having to buy the converter. Then after you get that amp hooked up, you can put a sub in either a regular box, or you can get a custom box (JL Stealth, MTX Thunderform, or Q-Logic box) and it replaces the rear net pocket in the cargo area, and it is really nifty. It is less prone to be stolen than a regular box. As for the sub, I have an mtx thunder 6000 10" and it sounds great!!

As for the speakers in the doors, just get the right speaker harness and it plugs in the factory plug and then goes onto your new speakers and then you just screw the speaker back in.

Hopefully I have helped you in some way and e-mail me if you want that amp I have for sale, also go here if you want to see it: http://www.alpine1.com/html/De_n_221_n_n.html
