I have been very pleased in the forums I've read on here so far!!! I just recently bought a '00 Explorer Sport 4x4. It had one prior owner and they seemed to have taken pretty good care of it. Before buying it I wasn't really looking for a 4x4 at all. The way it worked out was really cool because I had been shopping online for 10 days straight. Everything on Craigslist seemed to be a pain, but I kept looking and found a 2003 Sport 2wd so I called them up and met them shortly after. Test drove it, ran fine, but had minor issues that my wife would have pointed out. So I went home and discussed it with her. Well from the pictures she could see there was nothing wrong, but I informed her of what I noticed. I refreshed craigslist and found the 2000 Sport 4x4 with less miles for a little more than the 03 so I called this guy...he hadn't had it online 10 minutes before I told him I was on the way. He had the Carfax report and I told him I had cash so I'd be there. I show up to buy the Explorer with my cash and laptop with OBD program to test in case any check lamps were on. The only thing that came up was the the check fuel lamp. I started the vehicle and popped the hood and told him I'd take it. I have to admit it was a risky decision not test driving the vehicle or even buying it on the spot, but this has to be one of the best vehicles I've ever had!!!! I got it home and since have changed the factory plugs, which were surprisingly clean looking. I changed the oil and flushed the radiator. I have checked all the fluids and everything looks to be in great shape. There is surface rust along the panels, but nothing extreme. I would like to patch or replace the panels and try to make the body rust free. If anyone has suggestions on how to go about it, I would sure appreciate it! I would like to remove the running boards and fender flares. If I remove the fender flares it won't look as sharp if there's rust, but it will give me inspiration to make it clean and mean!!!!!!!!!!!! As far as performance enhancements, what should I do, its the 4.0 SOHC.
