Hi! I'm the new owner of a '96 Explorer, 4 door, 4x4, 4.0 V6, automatic, power everything, sunroof, etc. (I don't know for sure the exact submodel--I bought it a few weeks ago, but then left the USA the next day to visit my in-laws in the UK).
Anyway, as stated, I'm new to Explorers, but I've had a 2 wheel drive '95 Ranger extended cab XLT for 5 years or so (3.0 V6, 5 speed) and that has been a great truck, except for the part where I had to replace the M5R1 transmission. I've also spent some time with my Dad's 2001 Ranger 4x4, (4.0, manual tranny, off-road package, factory 16" wheels), the one with the suicide doors on the back, and that was a great truck, too.
I bought the Explorer because I was already familiar with the Rangers and liked them, but my '95 is too small now for my growing family.
I joined this forum primarily because I like to do all my own work on my cars and joining forums like this is a great way to make life a lot easier when info is needed. I've been lurking for a few days and have been impressed with the amount of know how that exists here.
