I picked up my Explorer tonight. I've been looking at it for a while and couldn't decide if I wan'ted to go back to Ford. This is my third vehicle, I've previously owned a 95 Mustang GT, and a 02 Chevy s10. I recently wrecked my s10, and have been looking for a new vehicle. Found this for $1300 with some door issues. Not sure much about the explorers but i'm looking forward to modding this one. It's a red 98 sport 5 speed. Its this 4.0 vin X. It drives almost like new but has 188k on the clock. I'm just using it as a get around vehicle right now. I plan on a system in it soon and some bullet-holes. It's not the 4wd model. any comments/suggestions?

Nice truck!! 188k isn't too bad for the Vin X (OHV V6). It's not a very zippy engine, but it's one heck of a motor. I'm really jealous of the 5-speed though. As far as suggestions... just browse around the site and I think you'll find that part done for you. It's funny how a few hours here will make your wallet incredibly lighter. :) Have fun with the truck, looks like a great one!

Yeah I'm already enjoying it. I'm going to go through a tuneup and clean the interior up and start thinking about a few small mods. It's really clean for what I paid, just pne noticeable scratch on passenger side

Haha yeah, I said the same thing about my s10. I work two jobs now and attend school so I rarely have any free time anymore. I need to tackle the door issues, which I believe to be latches, and hear it's a fairly common issue in the explorers. And I do plan on going through the interior and swapping LEDs. Other than that it's a world of possibilities I assume. But thanks for the compliments on it. I already know it's going to grow on me.

I've replaced the o2 sensor, tuned it up, and start working on my speaker system in it so far.
