Hi all, I just got a 96 Explorer XL 4WD. I love it! I used to own a Chev Cavalier

Anyways, I've noticed a few things, front end makes a slight "clunk" noise and a sweeking sound whenever I go over a small bump.

Wipers will work fine, then stop halfway up the window, then continue working after a few secs. This repeats every 5 mins or so. (is it just the switch??)

I'm having problems with the 4WD LOW. I switch it into 4low, then after a few secs the 4 low light will come on. But it doesn't like to be turned off. I put it into N the switch back to 2WD, but the light will not go out right away. only after I turn the truck off or drive around for a bit. An I doing something wrong?

Last thing... Pass side window switch doesn't work. It did, but a day ago it stopped working. The light still lights up and I can control the window from the drivers side switch, just not by using the Pass switch. The light lights up, so I'm assuming the switch is still hooked up, maybe just a cleaning of the switch or faulty switch??

Sorry for the long post, this is my fist Explorer and first 4WD, I've always had sporty little 2 dr. cars. so this is all new to me.

Thanks guys! (from a converted Chev man)
:D

It is prob the rear window switch unless you activated the window lock :)

The clunk and squeaking-Check the sway bar bushings. You might even try removing it and see if it still squeaks. If there is still squeaking, take a good look at the ball joints.

Wipers-multifunction switch, get a new one from ford.

4wd- are you making sure to hold the brake upon switching into and out of low range?

Thanks guys, I feel so stupid, for my power window problem, it was only the window lock. I didn't even think of it because in my old car, the window lock only locked the rear windows, not the passenger side one.

I did some hunting around the site and I belive the clunk is caused from a worn Torsion Bar kevlar pad.

Thanks again everyone.
