Well after much tire kicking and deal making I went last weekend to pick up my new ride. 2007 Limited V8, pretty much loaded I guess except the Nav. system, but I know where Im going anyway, lol, and I managed to find a 07 with the power down rear window so Im pleased with that. Truxxx kit has already been ordered with BFG At,s to follow.

Not a great set up for taking pic.s with the shadows, but heres the two gen.s together. It was sad to see the old girl go after 7 or so years together, but it was time for a change. I must have priced her right as she sold in under 24 hours.

So Questions....

It was really easy to get the fogs on with the high beams in gen1 by covering a post on the relay, can the same be done on this one??

If anyone has the Truxx with the 18" LTD rims please read this one.

If you have extra power points show, me where you have them, I have the one in the front of the console and one inthe back, but am thinking somewhere on the dash.

I had more questions, but Im waking up from the night shift and dont have it all together yet, lol

Cheers, Todd

I have power points in the bed. One in the console, one in the front of it and one behind it.

Enjoy that V8. Much better than the 4.0

Aw, way to make a us V6 guys feel bad. You are right though, my truck's like pushing a box across concrete, but part of that is my accelerator control.

Nice ST though, hope it looks more like your old one soon.

Don't get me wrong, I have both a 07 ST with a 4.6 and an 08 Ironman with the 4.0. The 4.0 is a great motor with plenty of power, until you drive the 4.6 with the 6 speed. Off the line, it really pulls hard.

I love my V8, I'll never go back to a V6 again in a truck

Very nice, Todd!

Congrats on the purchase.

Lookin forward to seeing it lifted with the BFG A/Ts installed.

Have you settled on a tire size yet?

Congrats on your purchase.....I just bought an '07 Limited a few weeks ago. I traded my '05 Black XLT for this one and have never looked back. Enjoy your new ride....I know I am enjoying mine!

Thanks guys, cant wait for the parts to come in and start to, as my wife says, "toddify" it:D

Lift and tires first, Im not a big chrome fan so Im thinking of painting thr grille, maybe the ironman or bently grille, we,ll see. It came with the little class II hitch, so i think I,ll cut that out and weld in a 2" reciever and who knows what else.

Aw, way to make a us V6 guys feel bad.

Im glad I went with the V8, but would never knock the 4.0, the old one pulled that snowmobile trailer 6 hr.s north with 2 sleds on it a week before I sold her, not bad for having 290,000 klicks on her.

Have you settled on a tire size yet?

I think its going to end up with the 265,s as it seems the width of the 275,s would be pushing it.

Cheers, Todd

nice sport trac

Thanks guys.

On the question I had about keeping the fogs on withthe high beams, I went through the relay today(on 1st gen. you snip off a relay prong) and covered each prong individually to no avail. So back to the drawing board, after some more reading it looks like a jumper might be needed.

On a good note the truxxx lift kit has arrived, I just have to go pick it up along with the full set of factory service and wiring manuals I scored off ebay. Wiring one might help with the fogs, eh!

I think i have now deceided on 265/70/18 General AT2,s. 18" rims are a pain in the a$$ for size availibilty.

Cheers, Todd

Sounds great - can't wait for photos.
And you're sure right about 18"s being a pain - emphasis on the "$$" part, but more like "a$$$$"

remember seeing where someone put another 12v outlet right beside the one in the front, all it took was a matching outlet and some wire/connectors. If you take the console storage apart, there is a circle on the underside to mark where it would be centered. Just cut the circle out, and install. Fairly simple idea but I have not done it.

Taking a lunch break, half way through putting on the Truxxx kit, my back is sore and knuckles scraped, gettin to old for this ****, lol

Ha, nice - I'll probably end up killing myself trying to mod something when I'm in my 50s or 60s.
Good luck

Todd, last update was nearly 3 hours ago. Where are the finished pics?!?!

:D

Ok, done:thumbsup:, I like it so far, gotta go pick up my kid at school so we,ll see how she rides.

Total time between 5 and six hours, I kinda lost track, but I cleaned up the garage when I was done as well, not too bad. Broke one stud off a rear strut on the first one, but still lots of threads, so I just lopped the top rusty bits off the studs on the second one before even trying to loosen them.....what else. Had to ge the torch out once or twice to heat things up and putting things back togther can be a bit of a wrestling match, but not a bad job all in all. Tires should be in next week:D

I know , I know, pic.s pic.s pic.s.....I,ll try to get around to it soon.:p:;)

Cheers, Todd

Ok, here ya go. it seems to sit fairly level now. I havent noticed much change in the ride, but my old truck rode like a hay wagon, so anythings better. Tires on it are 255/70/18 so around 32" tires coming are 265/70/18 around 32.5". Might still need to trim a bit of plastic at the front of the rear wheel well, so far thats the only tight spot I see.
