New to Me 2001 Sport Trac RWD Automatic

It is a lot of work to replace the seat upholstery.

You have to remove the seats from the vehicle and then disassemble the seats to get the old upholstery off.

Then carefully install the new upholstery without damaging it.

Costco charges $1,300 for this.

After doing it once would you do it again

Yes. I have installed Katzkin leather on several other vehicles.

Great product.

Have not calculated parts or my labor costs, so I cannot answer that.

Updated restoration list.

Runs perfect, tows our 5,000 lb boat and trailer great. Totally reliable, 264,000 miles on the odometer.

Nice! Looks good in Black. I'm starting to see some of these in decent condition for good prices. I'd possibly take one with a bad engine for a V-8 small block conversion if I could find one clean and cheap. Is it best to start with a old 4.6 one for a SB conversion?

Thanks!

Only the 2nd Gen Sport Trac came with a 4.6. The 1st Gen models all had 4.0 SOHC engines.

1st Gen models all suffer from rocker panel rust. If you get a 1st Gen, it will likely need to be repaired. It appears this is not a problem with the 2nd Gen Sport Trac.
