New to me, some questions

I just got a 98 XLT loaded with 73k. I love it. Anyway, what issues should I be looking out for? I have a check engine light, went to Autozone but they couldn't find my plug? Is there even one, how do I reset the CEL? TIA

The port for the OBDII is under the steering wheel, under that little cover. You can reset the light by disconnceting the battery for 10-15 minutes.

What does that tell you about that Autozone?

You might just might have to get hold of a code reader that has a CODE CLEAR function. Better yet, find out what code has set your CEL ON and deal with it. However, I had a code once that didn't make sense, so I cleared it, and it never repeated - got lucky on that one. Usually a code set is a gift. Points you right to a problem, usually.

I found it, but I reset the code myself for now, if it pops up again, off I go to autozone. Thanks for the help
