Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2001 Sport Trac and have some questions.

1. There is a 12v connector in the bed, I am assuming that is an inverter? If so where can I get the adapter plug?

2. I have the keypad on the drivers door, but no code. Is there a quick, cheap way to get the original code or reprogram?

3. Also, I am looking for some stock parts and was wondering if there is a good site, besides the want ads here and E-bay, to check for parts?

Thanks

The power outlet in the bed is a regular 12v cigarette style power outlet.

Do a quick search in this sestion or in the '95-01 Stock Explorer section for the write-up on the door keypad reprogram.

As for the stock replacement parts, what parts are you looking for?

By the way, welcome to the site!!!!

Check out mysporttrac.com for parts and more helpful info, other members from here including myself are over there too.

Thanks again. I will be needing more info I am sure!

I found a thread in the 95-01 Explorer section on reprogramming the keypad, but it doesn't tell the location of the module I need to find in the Sport Trac. Any ideas?

I'm not sure about this one so I contacted ncranchero, he's the man to talk to.

If it is a Job 1, its behind the centre of the rear seat. If its a Job 2, its under the defroster vent and the passenger side. Pop up the defroster panel and peek thru the windshield with a strong flashlight and look for a white modual about the size of a pack of smokes. The 5 digit code will be slightly larger the other data. Best to do when its dark outside.

The door pad code is on top of the central security module, which is behind the passenger side air bag on a Job 2 2001 and on the back panel under the window on a Job 1 2001. Job 1 / Job 2 crossover date = June 24th, 2000 so you'll have to determine which you have from the date on the vehicle certification label on the door.
This JOB 1 JOB 2 thread will also illustrate the underhood visual differences.

THIS method is the easiest in locating the code on 2001 Job 2 and later models.
Alternate to this is depowering the SRS and removing the air bag.

The 12v plug in the bed is not an inverter but you can plug an inverter into it.
