I just picked up a '91 4-door 4X4. I like it a lot, there are just a few things that I am having problems with. I don't mind doing my own wrenching at all. I have worked on Mustangs for years. So, to the problems.

1.)First is the most important. When in gear (reverse or drive (auto)), I get a light rattle and an intermittent squek from the bell housing. When in park or neutral, it does not exist. And from what I can tell, when I get moving, it does not exist. I am assuming this has something to do with the torque converter (never had an auto, either)?

2.)The infamous oil pressure "gauge". I realize it is more or less a switch. So why does it vary readings if it isn't a true gauge? I did check the sending unit, and it is the stock unit.

3.)My fuel level gauge does not work when the outside temperature is cool to cold. Is this the sending unit itself?

4.)Power mirrors - Driver's side mirror will move left and up with the button, but not right or down. Pass side only moves one direction. Would this be motors or the switch?

Thanks for any help any one can provide.

3. mine does that as well, it just takes it a little time to warm up, after the car warms up it'll act fine.

That is what I expected to happen, but no matter how long I drive or how "warmed up" the truck gets, the gauge doesn't move unless the outside temp is warm.

Does anyone else have anything?

1) Check the catlytic coverter heat shields. They rust, come loose and rattle.

3) Never heard of this happening before....

4) Most likely the switch

I am 99% sure it is not the cats, as I have almost certainly pinpointed it to the bell housing.

2. mine varies but only slightly...I just thought it was the needle varying it's position, it was only one letter out per variant when it changed but never under acceleration.

1) my friends 94 does the same thing, i dunno if he's looked into it at all or not
