Just saying hi. I have been looking over the forums for about 2 weeks now and figured I might as well join and post some pictures.

Now lets see if I can get these pictures to work.

2000 Ford Explorer manual 5 speed. The only rust is on the actual side steps. I think I am going to work on them within the next week or two. I am thinking sanding and repainting flat black. Anyone know off the top of there head if the little rubber part on the top of the side step comes off?

Welcome to the forum and clean looking truck you have there. I once took the rubber off my side steps but i ended up breaking a few of the tabs that hold it down.. I just used a pry bar. But my side steps were over 12 years old and the plastic seemed a little brittle from the years.

Thanks! Its in great shape. I just ordered a cd player, mounting kit, harness, and on Thursday I plan to get pick up either 2 12" kicker L7's or 1 15" L7. My local audio shop does a buy one get one for a dollar on the 12" L7's right now so I will pick them on Thursday. Then 3 weeks from now on my following payday I plan to get the amp. I have a wiring kit so I will put that in over the meantime.

welcome and nice x

I just ordered my 2 kicker zx400.1 amps and 2 kicker l5 10's. Let the fiberglassing begin!

Welcome to the forum- nice Ex!

I'd strip, POR-15 the outside of your bars steps, oil the insides, and paint the outside with Herculiner. Anything less will start to seep rust again soon, and they may be close to rusting through anyhow.

The nice thing about those is that you can just remove them (Bolts to the backside of the rocker panel) and remove them. The trim piece will stay behind:

Let me know what you think! Smoked the front turn signals also. Don't know if I like it though. 3 Layers of VHT night shades on the tail lights and 2 lays of it on the front turn signals. 4 clear coats.

Thanks man. The next thing on my list is to get the plastic molding on the outside to look new. Its faded pretty bad.

They have oils they sell to restore the plastic man.. will save you a lot of money.. not sure if you can see it in the pics i posted of my truck ill have to go look again but i used some oils to restore the black and shiny =) looks good to! nice truck!

Anyone had any luck rhino lining the plastic molding and bumpers. I am also going to swing down to autozone or advanced auto and see if they have the dye.
