2012 explorer xlt
My 05 XLT is at 212,000 miles. I bought it in 07 with with 15,000 miles. My V6 runs like new. Not even an oil leak. At 195K I took it to the shop to get to get what I thought was my 5th wheel bearing replaced. My mechanic diagnosed a shot rear end. Having just retired, it was decision time. I chose to keep it based on the fact that the V6 was sound and I didn't want to start making car payments again Time will tell if I made a good call. I am happy to find this forum and will be looking for advice and input from all members. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the site!

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forum. I wanted to take this opportunity to advertise the sale of my beloved 2000 XLT 5.0. I purchased this Explorer back in 2002 from Ford's Dearborn company fleet. It had 16,000 miles on it at that time - present mileage is 143,000. Over the years I've paid particular interest to regular maintenance (oil & all other fluids etc) in addition to an array of upgrades that have served me well over the last 16 years. Those upgrades include:

Gibson cat back stainless exhaust
Rear Sway bar upgrade
1 inch heat insulation spacer on the intake plenum
K & N cold air intake
Prolite electric radiator fan
Henson performance tune module for 87, 89, 93 octane options
High performance brake pads all around
Monster Torque Headers

Before I purchased and installed the Monster Torque Headers in '09 I visited Bob P's house in Southern California and was able to see the R&D set up he had in his garage - quite impressive.

I'd be happy to share pictures for anyone interested. It's never been offroad and other then the mods mentioned above, the rest is factory. No rust anywhere, no oxidized paint. Front and back seats have been fitted with custom seat covers since 2002 - dashboard cover as well.

Thanks, Jim
