Hello everyone!

I just took delivery on my new 08 silver SVA. It had been at the dealership along with several others for quite some time, so they gave me a killer deal. :)

I've had an 01 Sport Trac in the family since it was brand new, but I can say I'm definitely blown away by the sheer number of upgrades and features that are in the SVA vs the 01. Coming from an 06 Mustang GT, I'm definitely experiencing "luxury shock".

I've been looking around on the forums and I've got a few questions about my new truck that I'm hoping you guys can help me with:

1. What's the difference between the 08 Nav system and 09? I've got every possible feature in my new truck except for heated seats, so I'm just curious to know if the 09 system does something that my 08 does not.

2. Since I'm coming from a long series of Mustangs (93 GT fox, 94 5.0 GT, 02 GT, 05 GT and 06 GT) I've noticed the one thing that I kinda miss is the horsepower response. My SVA is a V6, and I'm wondering what the usual steps are for performance modifications. What do most of you guys do first and what can you suggest? I chose the V6 simply because I had no use for a V8 anymore and the V6 can tow my boat with no problems, but I'm definitely not opposed to getting the most power out of it that I can.

3. Is there any way to get a 12" subwoofer (or 2) into the cab of this truck? I've looked around the inside and I'm just not seeing any room without obstructing the fold-down rear seats. I've got a ton of audio hardware and I'd love to see if I can squeeze it in. Also, is the electronics and nav system going to give me any problem if I wire in a standard alpine amp?

4. Are there any problems with the SVA's that I should be aware of? Obviously, the dealership was quick to tell me that these trucks are absolutely perfect in every way and never have a single defect. ;)

**edit, new questions**

5. Is it possible to play dvd movies on the in-dash display? Does it require any sort of firmware upgrade or something similar?

6. Is there any way at all to modify the controller for the rear window to allow me to roll it down in an adjustable way? It's just like the '01 in that I can only vent it, or roll it all the way down, which has always bugged me.

I'm certain I'm going to have many, many more questions as I get to know this truck, but I'm hoping that I can learn a lot from you guys. I'll get some pictures posted up soon!

Thanks in advance,
-Steven

By saying you have an "SVA" I'm guessing you mean Sport Trac Adrenalin STA!?

1. The NAV is a litttle updated with better visuals fo the navigation...your NAV is fine!

2. There are a few great Tuners out there; VMPTuning, Bamachips, Unleashed Tuning, Blow By Racing Etc. Get yourself an SCT Xcal....it's the number one thing for performance, closely followed by a good aftermarket Muffler. Try a KKM Intake, seem to have good results.

3. You can do it, but it is tight and I suggest a custom install. Take off the back plastic trim from behind the rear seat...it gives you a tad more room when you taek out the stock woofer.

4. The transmissions are horrible...you may get a wierd "bump from behind" feel sometimes when coming to a stop or taking off from a stop. Totoally normal, unfortunately ford and has been trying to fix this since it's initial release. The Tuners are working very hard to try to tune the transmission with no luck lately.

5. Not sure, I do not have the NAV....sorry.

6. Nothing that I am aware of.

See my Sig below for my CARDOMAIN site to get furhter ideas for mods! (Keep in mind I have a V8)

Welcome, the Silver is a great color for the STA. You have the V6 so the tranny problem will not affect you and for that fact (knock on wood) it has never affected mine. They are great trucks just hard to find mods for them.

2. I put a Gibson exhaust on mine, supposedly good for 8 hp I think but I picked up 3 mpg also. K&N does not make a FIPK for the V6 but I put in their replacement filter (Pep Boys had a $10 coupon in the Sunday paper).

3. Either under the rear seat somehow or in the storage compartment behind the left rear seatback. Maybe.

5. I was at the dealer this morning for service, was looking at an '09 ST brochure while I was there. It did say that you could watch DVD's on the dash display when it is in park. Don't know if you could make an '08 do that or not. Last year I drove a 33' motorhome from Charlotte, NC to the PA/WV border, watching South Park videos all the way, and didn't wreck. An aftermarket head unit might be your best bet.

I thought in order to make it an Adrenaline it has to have the V8 in it?, I didnt know they made V6 Adrenalines.
