1996 XLT 5.0 AWD
Stumbled across the forum on Friday night looking for information on front sway bar links. Found the thread about changing them and was inspired enough to do them myself after the dealership quoted $300.00 to replace the pair of end links and sway bar bushings. Did it myself for just under $50 in parts. :D

So on to the good stuff. My daily driver is a 96 XLT 5.0 AWD. I have owned it since 3/98 and it has been bar none the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned. I purchased it with 26K and it now has 139K miles. Regular oil/fluid services have kept old girl running reliably. The only notable service work that I have had done in the time I have owned it is upper/lower ball joints and shocks at 110K and new radiator, thermostat, and hoses a year ago. Also serpentine belt and idler pulley twice so far.

I just finished reading about changing out plugs and wires and that is my next project. Be interesting to see what those OE wires and plugs look like when I pull them out. No issues with them at this point and I still get the same MPG (14.5) as I have all along. It looks like there is lots of good information here so I may be inspired to do some other things as well.

Welcome to this forum! You could save a lot of money doing things yourself until you start to do mods like lifts, big tires, and other stuff. Repair shops don't bother with stuff like this unless they are speed shops.
