So, I just got a new PPG windshield. Overall the trim around the top and sides looks like a good seal. Along the bottom, the cowl trim pieces do not sit flush with the windshield. The windshield people left out the trim screw on the driver side piece, but I replaced it, but it still did not make the cowl pieces sit flush.

Is this an issue that I should bring up to the windshield place? Since it does not sit flush along the bottom, would that be a nice place for junk to drop in and corrosion to start or something? Since the windshield is new, will the cowl pieces magically drop down to seal after a few days?

Thanks for any help

FYI: the new windshield was $165.12 total cash, installed.

*waits for MONMIX to pop in*

with out question I would say something to the windshield guys.

Unless the cowel pannel was like that to begin with I would NOT accept that as a finished product.

AND if by some chance the cowel magicaly pops down......

I dont know, I couldnt come up with a smart ass comment.

They may have snapped some of the retainers off when pulling the cowl pieces off, or messed up the body clips. Make them take them off when you are in front of them. If any are broken, they owe you new ones..

Well, the installer came and looked at it.

His excuses...
-It's cosmetic
-The cowl is warped
-It's fine

If there would have been another Explorer around, he would have showed me that it is normal. but there were none around.

*EDIT*

Their rep just called. The installer told him that the cowl was dry rotted. After talking to him for a bit, the conversation was leading nowhere.

Still waiting to see if this will lead somewhere :shifty_ey

Okay, now the regional rep is going to look at it, pry next Friday...

Did they pull it off and see if any of the retainers are broken, or just look at it on the truck?

"They don't warp, they get brittle. When they get brittle, they break if you don't take them off correctly..." Talk to them like they're 4 years old, because that's the game they're playing with you. Jeez.

Are you STILL outside shovelling snow? :)

They just looked at it.

I was pretty much done talking to the installer after the excuses.

Currently, I am outside shovelling glass, since my patio table with an umbrella through it, tipped over from the wind
