Newbee needs a lot of help

I just rebuilt my 1991 4 well drive 4.0 motor did a complete brake overhaul including front well bearnnings and rotors ,new break lines and calipers pluss a lot more to much to mention,I thought I was done because it goes into every gear it jumps a little but it will go in all of them so I took it for a test run and it would not shift into any gear by its self and would not go into overdrive or drive at all but it would manually go in 2nd and first,has anyone got any ideals,it did set for 3and1/2 years before I got what I thought was done Help please!!! Bill

....Have you change the tranny fluid/filter, and checked the fluid level???

Automatic transmissions change gears with hydraulic pressure. A clogged filter would decrease the pressure, and cause problems.
