Newbie from LA, Ca. - Need confirmation of what a "complete valve job"

I'm sorry if I'm suppose to write this under a different section but I tried and cannot locate it under "my posts" or anywhere for that matter.

I need a confirmation given that I have a 2000 ford explorer XLT, V6, 4.0L OHV, 245 engine. Shop owner doesn't want to honor a warranty despite clause saying "6months warrant or 6,000 miles". Shop says since 6months came first and past, I'm out of warrant. No where does it say "whichever comes first". Also want confirmation if "complete valve job" means rebuild of the two heads not just one....Need replies soon.

The warranty seems standard, 6 months or 6,000 miles. But if it doesn't say "or" in writing you may have a case.

It is possible to just refurbish one head although that is not usually done. If they knew that one head had had a specific problem that they were trying to fix, and they were doing the owner a favor by trying to keep the project within a budget, I could see that happening... Never actually came across anyone who did that though...

I agree with Rick. If the shop wanted to keep you under budget, they probably went the cheap route. I always tell everyone to do their homework when it comes to auto repair shops. Just remember that good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good
