Just joined the site. I made a steal of a deal on a 2000 Explorer Sport yesterday. So here i am today looking for some info as it will need some minor tlc. My story is im 30yo, lived in Towanda Pa my whole life. I am pretty mechanical and like to tinker with vehicles. Im married
and have two kids, a dog and a cat.
Now for what were here for! The Explorer is a two door sport. From what I know so far - It is lowered a certain amount. It has Mustang wheels on it (3 right now, previous owner is getting the fourth from his daughters house). It has high mileage, but you would never know if to look at the body and here this thing start and run. My neighbor who owned it had taken it up on his property to hunt about a year ago. When he came back to go back home, it wouldnt start. No clicks on the starter, nothing. I was able to buy the Explorer from him in that condition for $500. I towed it home (half mile) and put it in the garage. I crawled under it and took the starter off. Once I had the starter on the work bench I noticed that the hot wire from the solenoid to the starter was not tightened down. Two turns of the wrench, bolt the starter back in and whala! It fired right up, no problem. Heres a pic from today, gotta wash it yet -
