Hey guys I'm a newbie over here on explorer forum, I used to be a member and ranger-forums and trs, but just haven't been around there for a while. A little background on me I used to own a 2000 ford ranger that was lifted on 33s, she had the 3.slow in her geared at 4.10s and had a tt up front and shackles and explorer springs in the rear all with a body lift on top. She was a good truck, but times changed and so did becoming a father so I needed myself a family truck. I'm going to check out a 98 explorer sometime this week and was wondering if anyone had any info on specific things to check out on these trucks. It had higher miles on it. It's got the 4.0 and is a auto besides listening for the timing chain rattle and wheel hub assemblies, cvs, and the basic fluid checks is there anything else. As I wish I was able to get the 5.0 the funds aren't available and I need the truck asap thanks for any and all future help guys ohh and what the wife doesn't know yet is I already have a body lift for this little girl already. Thanks again guys.

Welcome to the forum and let's keep them rolling!

Welcome to the forum. Good to see another Jersey member. Give it a good look underneath for rust issues especially the rocker panel areas. NJDOT loves to dump salt and brine every chance they get in the winter.

Thanks guys well as it turns out I never got tha 98 explorer, I came across a way better deal, a 97 Eddie Bauer 5.0 awd explorer closer to me right I'm williamstown and picked it up for 500, it runs great and shifts great, it has a little rust on the roof in front of the sunroof but other then that she is on great shape, it needs a hub assembly but that's easy I hav changed so many I can do it with my eyes closed. So happy I can across this truck, stay posted for my threads because I already have te body lift in hand so let the modification begin!!!
