Hello everyone, Im Dave and new here. I own my 2nd Explorer, its a 2002 XLT, 2WD, 4liter V6. Its been beautiful for me until yesterday. I was driving the freeway when the power in my engine power went to zip. It satyed running but only went about 5-10 mph. It also has a clanging noise that is slight when I run up the RPM's in neutral. No bubbles in my reservoir, no engine lights are on, starts right up and goes 5 mph around the block.
If anybody has a clue or can tell me things to check, Id appreciate it greatly. I love my truck and Im handy with my tools.
Thanks Again, Dave

Noticed something else

Hey peeps,
I noticed a rattling type noise, not to loud but noticable coming from the driver side valve cover or maybe the overhead intake...when its cold and I start it up and I rev it up, it seems to run up well then in a minute or so it gets nasty and wont go as high..car goes about 5-10 mph, I can get thru the gears in 1,2 3 and drive...my problem appears to be in the valve cover on the driver side or the intake the is overhead of the driver side valve cover. Water is coming out of the tail pipe and converter union but contains no coolant, small, tiny bubbles in the oil and it appears that no water is in the oil. No bubbles in the resivoir, and this info is not just my opinion, but of a couple other car familiar peoples.
Please, any idea's will help. I would like to figure the problem so I can se if i can fix it myself or if I need to put her in the shop..This is my work car, I do mobile service and need it fixed right away
Thanks in advance
Dave
