- 54 Ford F100 ext. cab 4x4
I thought I would post an intro.:wavey: My name is Ted and I'm a Fordaholic.
I'm located in southern Minnesota.
I don't own an Explorer. But I've got a project and after some research I'm considering using an Explorer chassis. I was doing some searching and found this website. It looks like a good source for info.
My project is a 54 Ford F100 that I'm building into a 4x4 for a year round daily driver/parts hauler/cruiser. So far I've got most of the body parts, a mild 351W out of a 84 F250, A NP435 grany low 4spd manual transmission and a NP205 transfecase out of a 78 F250. I've been looking for a Ford 4x4 chassis that had the same wheelbase as the 54's original ( 110" ) . From my searching the Explorer's wheelbase looks the closest.
I've been searching for pictures of both the first generation and second generation Explorer 4 door chassis without the bodies on. Not much luck so far. I'm still not sure if a first generation or second gen would be better for my project.
Enough of my babbling.
